INTERVENTIONS

At Liberty Intervention, our team specializes in drug and alcohol interventions and we are experienced with supporting many types of addictions and crises. Our interventionists are committed to bring you the results you are seeking through proven strategies and methods. We work to prepare the family and friends by staging the intervention and educating families on how to support their loved one, as well as provide after-care counselling for everyone involved.

The purpose of an interventionist is to direct and encourage the addict to accept responsibility for their addiction and to bring change to their thinking so they can move forward with recovery and the new family dynamic.

If your addicted loved one is resistant to their addiction crisis, there needs to be a compelling reason to move forward in recovery. An interventionist collaborates with the family putting a plan in place where the addict feels the process and all involved can be trusted.

The interventionist doesn’t just inspire your loved one to change, our team brings all of the personalities of a family together, with all of their diverse opinions, and focuses everyone on a single solution that works on a level comfortable for everyone to create hope and direction.

INTERVENTION IS AN ACT OF EMPATHY RATHER THAN SYMPATHY

An addiction intervention is a lifesaving mission on behalf of loving family members, concerned friends or employers. We educate everyone involved about addictions and mental health; all stages of the process are led by a trained addiction interventionist.

Interventionists provide resources and skills for family members to learn how to engage in productive conversations as opposed to reacting and debating with their addicted loved one. With our guidance, the process of recovery and healing happens for the family unit.

Interventions become a WIN – WIN for all family members involved.

PLANNING

Interventions include an event where the parties involved will meet with their addicted loved one. Careful planning and specific arrangements are needed through every step, and communication with all participants is key.

INTERVENTION

Depending on circumstances, the intervention may be performed at a location of your choice, but preferably on neutral ground. An intervention typically takes 2-3 days and is conducted in either the morning or afternoon. Liberty Intervention specialists are always available to answer questions and address concerns post-intervention.

WHAT TO DO

 BEFORE AN INTERVENTION

As you begin the journey to recovery, one must start with pre-intervention work that involves family meetings, collaboration and unifying the family unit. During this time, we address concerns and educate the family on the importance of identification of addictive patterns and behaviours within the family system.

Our interventionists will also identify, define and explain the type of intervention that will be taking place: chemical or alcohol dependency, sex addiction, eating disorders, mental health, behavioural addictions, video games/process addiction, gambling addiction and/or relationship dependencies.

WHAT’S THE SUCCESS RATE FOR INTERVENTIONS?

Interventions are a successful process that help family and friends understand the cycle of addiction, provide skills to set boundaries and limitations, offer practical recovery resources and unify the family.

According to research, interventions are successful 85% of the time.

However, the 15% who do not seek treatment as a result of the intervention meeting are more likely to accept treatment within two weeks, if the family members are willing to follow through on the set limitations and continue to gain recovery support for the family unit.

EVERY INTERVENTION IS SUCCESSFUL.

WHAT IS THE GOAL OF INTERVENTION?

Interventions are intended to effectively bring down the walls of delusion and denial for the addicted loved one so they are able to recognize that there is a problem and recovery is possible.

Interventions are not just for the addicted person, they are for the entire family system.

Liberty Intervention collaborates with the entire family to break down the cycle of denial and provide education about recovery and treatment.

WHAT IS THE OBJECTIVE OF AN INTERVENTION?

Our objective is to educate and facilitate enormous changes within the structure
of the family environment that will result in healthy, positive behaviours and relationships.

Our interventionists and counsellors use solution-focused strategies built on neutralizing crises and stress. Liberty's support team also creates an individual recovery resource plan for each family member, promoting the road to recovery for all involved.

There is always a risk that your addicted loved one may not agree to or accept treatment. However, in the intervention process, the family has gained vast knowledge and recovery resources and can continue with their own recovery process.

Liberty Intervention will continue to support your efforts to getting your loved one the help they need.
